There is nothing bad about meditation and you don't have to do it daily. Meditation is a way of helping yourself in a positive way, a self-help method to assist in overcoming many things, for some: lack of focus, unable to relax, anger, frustration, addiction, difficulty forgetting past painful experiences and feeling lost. It helps motivate us to believe we are strong and perfectly able to take on what needs to be done. It's listening to your inner voice, establishing a connection that tunes in to your instincts and sense of self-preservation for your safety and if you believe in higher forces, you could invite it to channel good energy into you to guide you along life's journey.
I think it's the opposite. It can be really good for your mind and body, as long as you’re not forcing yourself in a way that feels stressful.

I used to meditate on the Psalms using Tim Keller’s book My Rock to help me. It was supposed to take a year, but it took me three years. I leant a lot about Gods goodness and mercy. Also about creation.
