Wow as i read the answers I think if i believe this is it then i rote in the ground and that is it this is a real crappy deal. If all there is, is what have here and now then why would life be worth living. why would I ever help anybody else. why would a save for future generations. If this is it then why have children to make them suffer and die. Come on people there is more the certainly is more!

I think what you believe will happen is what will happen, for the most part.

I'm hoping that when I die, I can choose to come back or remain as a spiritual guide for others. To me, that makes sense. Otherwise, what is the point of living and learning and experiences if you are just going to spend eternity singing praises to a deity, or burn in eternal fire? Or just not exist at all?

It will probably be something that doesn't make any sense, though lol

Your belief stops at the door of death, Foxy. Beliefs are things of the living in a timelike state.

There is no you apart from the belief that you exist. Your death is the ending of that belief. Coming back is a belief of yours. Existence is an illusory state.

It will probably be something that doesn't make any sense, though lol

Imagination is the mother of all things.

@sree251 I've never had a problem with magical thinking as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. 🤷‍♀

Hurting each other is our nature. Sorrow is us, Foxy. To believe that you are not hurting anyone is the perpetuation of suffering.

The ones who loved us will miss our existence. Memories help them carry that existence as it erodes across maybe a few generations. Until years from now the descendants of those we left behind are watching Fast and the Furious 62 and are completely oblivious to the fact we ever lived a life.

Oh, I guess I'm going with Eternal Oblivion at this point in my life. I was born and raised Catholic, but as an adult, I became an atheist. I've come to the conclusion that when I go. I don't think someone will be waiting for me at the pearly gates, giving me the 'ole pat on the butt, welcoming me into "IT".
Levenrack · 46-50, M
@MoveAlong You know what. I haven't a clue. I try to keep clear of that type of ideology, if possible.

Same with others on this forum. I see some of their posts, and just have to say to myself "nope.. no just move on dude. No need to yuck their yums, and whatever gets them through their next 24 hrs. I've muted a few because they were just too "heavy" for me.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@Levenrack I generally stay away from religious threads because you can't really have a discussion with someone who believes in magic.

It sometimes pisses me off when religion enters political discussions though. When an elected official says something like god will lead me or I'll pray to god for direction I just can't stay silent.
Levenrack · 46-50, M
@MoveAlong yeah. The political stuff can stay on the other side of the tracks as well for me. It tends to bring out the ugly in people.

I believe we have a choice of whether to return (reincarnation), stay and act as a spirit guide to others, or be absorbed into the godhead.
alongalone · M
It will be like a tv conking out for the last time and nothing is going to fix it. I would like to go to heaven that would be nice but sadly I'm not magic like most people

You party like it's 1999
Levenrack · 46-50, M
@Lilymoon Now that it's well past 1999, it feels kind of redundant, that song. But, I'm all about the retro resurgence of late.

Eventually all the cells in our bodies breakdown into various chemicals, compounds and elements which of course can no longer support mental activity.

You are assuming that the corporeal brain does the psychological thinking?
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@sree251 I do believe that all mental activity comes from the corporeal brain. No evidence that I know of that suggests any other source.
sree251 · 41-45, M

I do believe that all mental activity comes from the corporeal brain.

Isn't mental activity the cause of your belief that it comes from the corporeal brain?

No evidence that I know of that suggests any other source.

What evidence do you know of that suggests the corporeal brain is the source of mental activity?

Depends on where and how you die!

this post did not express whether it was meant to be worldly or spiritually. I was looking at the post in a different context. Sorry

What context is that?
specman · 51-55, MVIP
@sree251 worldly

worldly

Worldly means corporeal.

either you get cremated and that's it, or you get buried and take about 20 years to rot away, then that's it
