If incest is bad, then how come Cain married his sister, and it was okay with Allah?

In super olden days it was okay, right?

So, people and laws and cultures change with time. So, think twice before passing judgments or comments on Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) marriage with Aisha (RA). It could've been like a Jacob and Renesmee thing, no?

just a thought :)

Does your argument compare, though??? I get what you are trying to say... but using a work of fiction to argue against another book that many consider to be factual might not be the best way about it???

Sort of like how I can't argue that toys come to life when people aren't in the room because it happens in Toy Story...

@HootyTheNightOwl but you do believe that toys exist, right?
@HootyTheNightOwl also, DNA and the effect of incest on birth defects weren't known yet when religious books were written. Advice based on very little information is instantly less valid than advice based on everything we know at the moment. This is why advice during the early days of the pandemic was thrown out when we found out more and figured out better ways to deal with it.

@NerdyPotato there were birth defects since Cain? How am I so beautiful and dashing then 🙃
@nobodyishome you're probably not the result of incest, like most of us aren't.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@NerdyPotato How are we aren't 😂🤣
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@NerdyPotato sorry, I mean, Cain was Adam's son. so technically >>>
@nobodyishome I believe that the Bible exists, too... just not that half the stuff in there was written or translated accurately.

It wasn't written in the moment, like a diary, but a few hundred years after the fact. Now, we already know that people recall events differently after a crime has been committed - so, what's to say that stories passed through 4 or 5 generations before they were written down hadn't already started to be edited by our minds before they were ever put on record???

Believing that toys exist is one thing, believing that they come alive is another thing. Same thing with the Bible. I believe that the Bible exists... but I don't blindly accept that everything contained within it is true.

@HootyTheNightOwl We're on the same page then.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@HootyTheNightOwl I'd wish rather not to be.
@nobodyishome so technically most of their offspring would have severe medical issues if it wasn't fiction. Thankfully we're no more related to Adam and Cain than we are to Red Ridinghood.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@NerdyPotato but Allah said we all came from Adam 🙃
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@NerdyPotato Do you know, when Adam was created, all souls were extracted from his spine. Fun fact :)
@nobodyishome that's what various religious books claim. That doesn't mean that's how it happened.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@NerdyPotato haha how else should've Allah explained to you. In the Gita, it says, there is no happiness for someone who always doubts.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@NerdyPotato And in the Qur'an. 'Beware of suspicion. Because in some cases suspicion is a sin.'
@nobodyishome if he were powerful as people claim, he could tell everyone one of us individually. If the message is that important, don't you think it's a strange choice to rely on a game of Chinese whispers over thousands of years when that usually falls apart after three retellings?
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@NerdyPotato maybe the message is not that important then 😂😂😂
@nobodyishome that's exactly my reasoning. It can be useful as an inspiring story, but it's not a history book or user manual for life.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@NerdyPotato yea, that's why Allah put a strong sense of what is right and wrong inside a person. It's veryy strong, trust me.

And when you do good or bad (according to yourself), then you get punished or rewarded.

Umm, good always triumps buddy. It's been like that since Cain and Abel. Cain gave a sacrifice but had bad intentions, Abel had good intentions and Allah accepted it. Started from there. :) As old as Human Being's history on earth :)
@nobodyishome most people have a strong sense of good and evil indeed. And thank goodness we do, otherwise we wouldn't know which parts of religious books to follow and which ones to ignore.
