How to identify when an atheist is losing an argument

Watch for these few common signs
1. They try to label the believer in order to discredit the person instead of keeping to the subject
2. They bring up religion and the bible to show how God can't exist
3. They resort to name calling
How to identify when a believer is losing an argument
(I myself never brought up religion or the Bible. I just asked how a living being can create matter and energy and mold it into the cosmos we reside in. If it isn’t magic, what kind of being could pull off such a task, still be living billions of years , and maintain a spiritual interest in everyone living ?)
1) Believes there is a creator - denied being a creationist
2) Denied being a creationist- because creationist believe for religious reasons.
3) Resents being unable to justify first two claims , and takes it personally.
4) spreads misinformation, and false claims, when can’t admit to
losing an argument .
5) Uses stereotypes, to evade direct questions and personal opinions.

Until someone can prove god’s ( or a creator ) existence one way or another the outcome will always be a push. No winner.
You come here, you put out your opinion on the subject, you’re gonna get feedback. You may not like it. But don’t think people will back down just because you don’t like it.
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@DocSavage yes Your gut feeling. Of course you are afraid to use your feelings when considering if there is a Creator. It's much easier for you to believe that the universe just popped out of nowhere. Something from nothing 🤣
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Axeroberts so your preferred explanation is a magical entity that popped up out of nowhere?
DocSavage · M
@newjaninev2
No, he popped out of a magic lamp. The lamp popped out of nowhere.

Care to give us an example or two ?

Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@DocSavage but that label implies a person thinks the world is 6000 years old. And it is a great way for you to avoid specific beliefs by redirecting. And atheists believe it all came out of nowhere.

@DocSavage but some people cannot accept why I believe. And that's fine. But it seems obvious with the same evidence the criteria changes. No proof but you believe in aliens based on the numbers but you won't accept a person's feelings as equal criteria
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@Emosaur that's the problem right there. you want to label me

Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@BohemianBoo typical atheist. Doesn't listen but likes to label others as if you know. Another atheist who likes to twist things so they can believe they won a non-existent argument. But hey you have proved the point I am making on this post so I will give you that 🤣

@Axeroberts
I believe it’s “the Fool in his heart said there is no god “ you’re misquoting again. And stereotyping. The heart pumps blood, the mind reasons. And reason dictates that gods are man made fantasies.
Shaming people into belief, is why so many hate groups are affiliated with religion. Disagreeing is a fundamental right, necessary for free will, which is supposed to be god’s greatest gift to humanity.
Using religion to make your case isn’t helping you.
2. They bring up religion and the bible to show how God can't exist
@Axeroberts
By the way. Using the Bible and religion to make your argument, is the second sign that you’re losing. Your list, not mine.
Name calling is the third.

Was that "experience" before or after you did the 🍄 🤪

@BlueSkyKing that's his opinion and maybe yours. But it seems strange to listen to an atheist talk about faith. Obviously something he knows nothing about. 🤣
“ it seems strange to listen to an Atheist talk about faith. Obviously something he knows nothing about “
And you wonder why people resent believers.

@Axeroberts
You don’t make up the world population anymore than I do. I’m just quoting numbers.
Sharon · F
@DocSavage People are breaking free of christianity in droves. According to the UK censuses, in 2001 (the first year the question was asked) 72% of the population self-identified as christian. By 2011 (the next census), that had fallen to 59% and by 2021 to just 46%, making christians a minority. Local churches have got together to hold services once a month in each church. Even the congregations of several churches barely fill the front pew.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Sharon Yes, here in New Zealand the last census reported that those identifying as christians are now a minority of the population.

Wonderful news! 👍🏻

Same reason you are, to voice an opinion.
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@DocSavage why do you have an interest on this type of thread. I don't waste my time going on an atheist thread. You remind me of those religious fanatics who have come to convert you. You are the equivalent atheist. why not make your own post.

The whole section is called religion & spirituality. It’s an open forum. No one here is limited to any one section.
It’s how information grows, people ask questions, exchange ideas. That’s how it works.
One common Biblical verse used when the ardent "true christian" is faced with an argument based on any logical philosophical point:-

Not many wise are chosen (from 1 Corinthians)

Thus blind ignorance is in effect exalted - which obviously isn't the intent of the verse, but it is used for that purpose.

😀

Another one - from the same book - used often when an opponent says that something claimed by the "true christian" doesn't make sense is:-

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Once again, the assumption of being correct and therefore "justified' is the core of the "true christians" quoting of the verse. They waft away, full of their own spiritual discernment, however fundamentally ridiculous and nonsensical their belief is.

In effect, such verses lock the "true christian" into a box that only genuine Grace and Mercy will rescue them from
they threaten you with punishments from the bible?..

To true! And look at them come out in force on this post. 🤦‍♂️
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
And after name calling it's swearing and general abusiveness! Do they really think they're doing their cause any good by being abusive??
TheWildEcho · 56-60, M
@DocSavage I never mentioned the bible on this post
DocSavage · M
@TheWildEcho
Neither did I.
He doesn’t like the term “creationist”
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@DocSavage very good Doc 👍

Arguing about religion is a waste of time. People either have faith or they don’t. You can’t have faith without revelation, not everyone can fathom it.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Axeroberts Which part is incorrect?
Axeroberts · 56-60, M
@MrBrownstone all of it to me.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Axeroberts Then you don’t have reasoning.
I would have lead with "play the logical fallacy card, and curtly so, without justifying the invocation of its name" but now it looks like you can add "downvoting your material " into the mix
