Can Unwitnessed Writings, Beliefs, Blind Faith, or Unsubstantiated Evidence lead to Truth

Or will truth always be just a delusion?

Then there are ulterior motives at play that hide the truth.

If the truth that one has been told for years suddenly is found to be a lie how does one recover from the shock?

How do you carry on when the most basic part of your axiomatic system of beliefs no longer can be depended upon.

We see or experience them all the time.

It gets tiring.

All of the bigotry, misogyny, mythology, populism, evangelical proselytizing, propaganda, and just plain lies. From Santa Clause to Jerry Springer's "You are not the Father". Every God inspired text and story or statistic on the news are suspect.

Really fascinating topic on truth. One of my favorite quotes, is by an author, Byron Katie. "Nothing is true." Only our * perspective*, not truth, is showing us a scene, a person, an object, when we look at it..and LABELING it. When I get very anxious about something, or feel panic I know its my MIND distorting something with fear, and Ill say to myself, Nothing is true. And it has always stopped my thoughts dead in their tracks.

My truth is what I see with my eyes.

I was just reading, in fact, about our wonderful earth
and about true polar wander
and about earth's bulging waters like spare tyres
the sun and moon and tides
influences from outside important for conditions on earth
everyting is connected and influence another
all of it was planned as far as I can see

magnificent
I have faith for I can see

And to quote an excerpt from the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam: "Oh, come with old Khayyam, and leave the wise. To talk; one thing is certain, that life flies; One thing is certain, and the rest is lies; The flower that once blown for ever dies."
