@SW-User She impresses me a lot

I have spilled this a million times....there is, nor will there ever be, a "greatest ever." Not in music, not it anything. There will always only ever be, that "latest".....and that is where Twain and her music lies. Justifiably so....but she will never be THE greatest everything. Music would need to cease to be measured.
Shania is a tremendous artist.....no question.....but somewhere, and at some time, some young woman whom we do not know and where from.....is somewhere it the wings who will clip the wings of Shania, and on it goes.
Make sense? Shania at this date and time reigns in her element....but it doesn't last. Whether her or anyone else....its a fleeting measure.
As long as anyone understands the concept, they should rest easily.
My .02 kids.

@Freeranger I understand
Freeranger · M
@Harmony Cool....ultimately, it is merely my opinion
Harmony · 31-35
@Freeranger of course
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
I wouldn't even put her in the top 10; nothing about her music is groundbreaking or unique, it sounds exactly like the same ol' recycled ear bleeding country/pop that singers have been flooding the market with for decades.
metaldog · 51-55, F
@wildbill83 ooh well said!! 😀
Harmony · 31-35
@wildbill83 |Aww
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@wildbill83 I have nothing against her music,but as I understand it,it's not ,in the strictest sense,country music;it's country-fied pop.Along with Garth Brooks,she started that trend.

Yes

@Lilymoon no

The first three who come to mind are Dusty Springfield, Tina Turner and Cher. Next tier, Aretha Frankin, Annie Lennox, Whitney Houston, Dionne Warwick... Shania Twain is good but not in that league, I'm afraid

She’s showy but no Loretta Lynn or Dolly Parton!!
jackson55 · M
Just another country singer.
wildbill83 · 41-45, M
@jackson55 hardly, more like a pop singer...
Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, etc. are country singers...

I wouldn't go that far, but she's a knockout.
Freeranger · M
No. And here IS the salient point. Man or woman, Rock to Country, Classical, to Bluegrass, pick your damn artist which you've fallen in love with and realize that.....there will NEVER, EVER be, that ONE artist, that ONE sports or historical figure that will traverse in totality........TIME.
What you are describing, what you are hoping for is an individual who, in YOUR day, as long as you or they may live be judged as being, "THE BEST."
Got me? Hope so because ultimately, there is never, nor will there ever be, a "best" anything, anywhere. There will only ever be a...[wait for it] "LATEST." Console yourselves with that reality as.....it's the truth.
Done here. Move along, nothing left to be seen people.

@Freeranger Not necessarily.While I agree with your overall point that who constitutes the "best" in anything is largely a fluid construct that depends on the personal opinion of the person judging,there are at least a few fact-based, immutable guidelines to support such claims.In the case of the music industry,it's record sales.So far,no one person or group has sold as many albums as the Beatles,so on that basis alone,you could make a solid,logical claim that they are the greatest act in history.

Maybe not but damn, what a body😉
