Makeup can help make people confident in who they are. Banning it is needlessly authoritarian.
SnowBlack · 18-21, F
There are cases of girls not even being allowed in class because the boys might get distracted. The rationale is that only men need to earn a living. So I vote no.

"girls not even being allowed in class because the boys might get distracted"
Sounds like something out of the Taliban play book.
Sharon · F
@chrisCA As teachers often wear garish make up and excessive jewellery, the claim that boys might be distracted by female students wearing make up is ridiculous.
It’s just makeup. It’s not hurting anyone. People need to stop banning things just for shits and giggles.

No.. can you imagine the poor girl with no eyebrows without make up?
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
@MellyMel22 are you sympathetic to WB? 🤭
MellyMel22 · F
@Ambroseguy80 I feel for girls without them. I wanna cry when I mess
mine up every so often, but at least they come back 😌
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
@MellyMel22 yep. I agree wholeheartedly…. Though drawn ones can be just as effective at times.

Should be the student’s choice. I had the same problem with piercings in school

This is a diverse country. The moment you force a certain standard is the same moment that country becomes repressive, because the more exclusive and less diverse that country becomes.

This is currently happening in many areas not just with school kids. The process is very far ranging from what a person believes to even political policies.

Yet these dicates usually start out in schools because they are the most vulnerable to influence.

So for that and many other reasons absolutely no banning of anything. Let the kids make their own decisions and not influence by one set of values over others. If anything let the parents decide. Not by any far ranging institutional rules.

Or should we force kids to wear burka's and pray to mecca three times a day?

It's no difference. They are the ones being influenced.

Makeup is self expression and a form of art it also gives girls more confidence a lot have low self esteem when it comes to their appearance
Ingwe · F
yes ban , it is part of learning some discipline
acpguy · C
They should also require uniforms as that would make so poor kids or poor dresses do not get picked on. It would also prevent some kids wearing the latest sneakers from getting shot for their shoes by some gang member types.

Schools shoulsd concentrate on doing what they're paid for - education. Not wasting time and effort making up stupid pointless rules.
Is this really being considered?
Sharon · F
@stratosranger I agree. Schools here seem to be in competition to come up with the most ridiculous, pointless, rules.
@Sharon I guess they gave up on education and are more concerned with indoctrination and conformity.
Sharon · F
@stratosranger It certainly seems that way. Students are excluded from schools for, quite literally, wearing the wrong colour (or shade of) socks!
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
Why would they need to do that?
Sharon · F
@chrisCA True but the teachers could chose to not enforce them, especially the rules that are actually unlawful.
chrisCA · M
@Sharon It would depend on where you live.
Sharon · F
@chrisCA I'm in the UK but I don't see how that's relevant. Could you clarify please?
Viper · M
I don't see the big deal, school is to get you prepared for real life... so whatever is done in real life.
Sharon · F
@Viper Exactly, make up isn't generally banned elsewhere "in real life".
TAReturns · M
We shouldn’t ban it but we should be teaching girls to trust their own natural beauty
Manfredthemanic · 16-17, M
I think they should wear makeup if they want to.
My school is private and very strict.
tiggerandariel13 · 41-45, MVIP
my daughter would be unhappy if she couldn't wear her makeup
SunshineBlues · 22-25, F
Of course not . And that goes for male students as well.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
No,I don't get why it's a thing? But I admit to old age.
SubstantialKick · 36-40, M
That's just petty and stupid.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
No ban, and I don't even like makeup on women.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@Sharon I know that makeup means a lot to women. It should be their choice!
Sharon · F
@uncalled4 I'm an egalitarian so the same rules should apply to boys. If they want to wear make up they should also be allowed to.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@Sharon I've been a member of both Rolling Stones and Bowie tribute bands, so I'm used to makeup on guys. It's not for me(thank you Charlie and RIP), but I've been around it.
Azlotto · M
I'm wondering why that would even be an issue.
