Cricket is now a year-round sport. You're obviously referring to the English cricket season. In England cricket is a summer spo0rt. In other parts of the world it is a winter sport.

So English cricketers tour places like India or the West Indies during winter when most of the Test series take place in the Indian sub-continent... or tour Australia, where cricket is again a summer sport, but the southern hemisphere summer is during the north's winter.

So, yes, there's plenty of cricket played year-round ,and nowadays there's no real off-season.

@chilloutab2 ooo i love tennis. For some reason i actually sat and watched Wimbledon this year

Its good sport to get into. Yes i remember going to Dubai around November and i nearly melted lol 😆

Enjoy your tennis 🎾

@Gangstress It was a dream of a lifetime for me to go and watch Wimbledon... but you need to pay an arm and a leg for the tickets :-(
Besides, both players I wanted to watch - Edberg and Federer - have hung up their racquets. So I have no incentive any more to empty out my bank account to enter SW19.

Yes, Dubai is pretty warm in November... mid-December to mid-March is very pleasant, though!

Enjoy your cricket!! 🙂

@chilloutab2 Im with you on the prices. And even though i wanted to pay there wasnt anyone i really wanted to watch so kinda parked it. Although Alcaraz is on my radar.

Have a lovely day and thanks for the chat 🙏

Some of our cricketers top level in New Zealand. Play county cricket in England or IPL during winter in New Zealand
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@Wizardry IPL starts late March and ends before our Winter starts. But county cricket in England and other T20 tournaments yes.
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
I believe they polish their balls.

Some play with convicts in the BBL in Australia but leave just before the finals and head to the IPL. £ before loyalty it seems.

@Stephie Six Balls then it's Over. Self explanatory really.
Stephie · 22-25, F
@KiwiBird Thanks. If you say it, I am ready to believe it since you never proved me wrong 😄

@Stephie If you rub your ball briskly against your trouser leg you'll find it makes it harder for the other man to play it.

That's why a lot of football clubs started
Lugwho · 61-69, M
@Gangstress I always have silly ideas of playing again in February and March. Then remember the pain on Mondays
Gangstress · 41-45, F
@Lugwho haha did you do something to them in the past?
Or is it over use?
Maybe you should get it seen too?
Lugwho · 61-69, M
@Gangstress It's just over use. I did get them x-rayed once, but no problems. They're fine if I don't run.
JoyfulSilence · 51-55, M
Go to Australia and play there.
Gangstress · 41-45, F
@JoyfulSilence hmm
I work fulltime
I cant just take 6.months out
What are you talking about

And also the question wss

What do they do off season
JoyfulSilence · 51-55, M
@Gangstress

Maybe you could play virtually with players in Australia? 🤪

During non-work hours, of course. Of course when you are off they all have to work. So you will need a tape delay. In fact, games will take years. Bowl. Wait. Hit. Wait. Run. Wait. 🤪

🎶Sunrise, sunset, sunrise, sunset. 🎶

As for what they do off-season? Maybe they meet their mates at the pub?

🍻

My sister plays cricket for a womens franchise team. In the off season she is housemistress at a girls boarding school and teaches PE and dance.

My son in laws brother used to play for Essex. He was a coach at a private school and also went to New Zealand one year to play their season.
