Cricket is now a year-round sport. You're obviously referring to the English cricket season. In England cricket is a summer spo0rt. In other parts of the world it is a winter sport.
So English cricketers tour places like India or the West Indies during winter when most of the Test series take place in the Indian sub-continent... or tour Australia, where cricket is again a summer sport, but the southern hemisphere summer is during the north's winter.
So, yes, there's plenty of cricket played year-round ,and nowadays there's no real off-season.

I love leg spin... could turn a cork ball on a polished marble floor, but could never get the line and length right 🤪
I used to play... a long time ago. In high school and college. Was an opening batsman. Never a hitter but solid, dispatching the bad balls to the boundary. Was good as a sheet anchor... blocking up one end while others scored all around me. Always wanted to play professionally, but was nowhere near good enough in the end :-(

hey im sure if youre still interested you could play for a local team. Even if you feel that you didnt make the cut professionally. You can still play for fun.

Except, I've switched to tennis now 😄 which was always my first love, with cricket a close second.
Besides, I live in the Middle East, where it's scorching for around 9 months of the year. So, with cricket being an outdoor sport, the "season" is very, very short. At least with tennis, there are indoor climate controlled courts :-)

@Gangstress It was a dream of a lifetime for me to go and watch Wimbledon... but you need to pay an arm and a leg for the tickets :-(
Besides, both players I wanted to watch - Edberg and Federer - have hung up their racquets. So I have no incentive any more to empty out my bank account to enter SW19.
Yes, Dubai is pretty warm in November... mid-December to mid-March is very pleasant, though!
