Professional baseball has always been this way. I watched a documentary on the sport and in the early 1900’s team owners would pay for the best players to have winning seasons. It’s true that the Dodgers have one of the highest payrolls in the game but there are a lot of teams who spend similar money.
MLB has always been this way. Long before you were born. It's just a different degree in dollars because smarter owners and a strong players union realized there was a lot more money sitting around.
@Bri89 Then why bother having a league when some teams pay more for the luxury tax then others pay for their whole roster. Just have 4 or 6 teams ...the regular season is meaningless. Other sports have salary caps & it brings equity & interest to those sports. The NFL is a prime example
