These posts are currently being made to a Parent Category, rather than Groups.

It was our intention to create individual groups for each sport, however, we hadn't yet gotten around to completing this for all categories (apologies for that unavailability).

Individual groups for both sports are now available:
Cricket - https://similarworlds.com/bat-ball/cricket
Baseball - https://similarworlds.com/bat-ball/baseball

Completely different games as different as gay and straight. Republican and Democract.

They are considered to be in the same "Category" of Sport (Bat-and-ball games),
hence, they were placed under the same parent category.

They did however still need to have their own individual groups (which is now available).

"Baseball and Cricket are two similar sports. They are both considered bat-and-ball games and are played by both men and women. But they also have many differences."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bat-and-ball_games

"Most bat-and-ball games can be categorized as being baseball-like or cricket-like, with many of them following the same basic outline:"

@ArishMell, understood.

Other research methods outside of Wikipedia can be used.
I just presented what appears to be an adequate source, for a casual subject matter.

Other methods such as comparing search volume via Google Trends, can help to reveal the familiarity of terminology, by country or globally.

(Updated)

I can see that there is a higher Search Volume, specifically in United Kingdom, for "Table Tennis Bat" vs "Table Tennis Racket" (via Google Trends).

Globally however, "Table Tennis Racket" is more prominent (via Google Trends), and Similar Worlds is a generally global website, with majority US traffic.

@Andrew The Google trends you submit would relate to Tennis not Table Tennis.

@KiwiBird correct, updated.

I saw that group and wondered who on Earth put two utterly different games in one group. Perhaps someone who knows only that both are bat and ball games!

It would be like linking Chess and Scrabble merely because both are board games.

Baseball is an American game based on the old English game of Rounders - and even that is completely different from the old English game of cricket!

("Based on" - by the Hollywood definition, that of a vague nod to its European original! :-) )
I agree....bats and innings...the similarity ends there😀

@KiwiBird both of which are derivative of the named games

@redredred Some debate there....likely that baseball is in fact a derivative of rounders. Modern cricket is older than modern baseball. Common sense would dictate it came from England. I haven't seen any link between baseball and First Nations people.
@KiwiBird there are scorecards online of eighteenth century cricket matches...I can’t remember where I found them though...lots of ‘bowler unknown’ as a catcher was seemingly deemed the wicket taker.

I said that too. Not the same at all.
@Nuno
I have no interest in seeing Cricket posts when I look for Baseball ⚾
