Some of both. I think some people are overestimating the speed at which AI will continue to improve. I think we'll see a couple more exponential increases and then a leveling out.
But I also believe the naysayers overestimate the complexity of what is required to replicate actual thought processes and the people who say AI will never be able to think like humans are overestimating human intelligence.
