Why are supermodels usually tall but it feels like most men like short women?

The sense I get is that a man being slightly taller & a woman being slightly shorter has vibes of protection attached to it, which is potent in a romantic sense. Everyone wants a tall woman to step on them though, I mean that's just a fact.

Models are tall skinny and flat chested. They want people to look at the clothing not the models body.

I feel way more attracted by tall women on average but that remains one parameter among others.

Tall women represent the most attractive type for men who put a high value on the safety/protection factor because of the confidence and the authority that such a feminine body representation naturally emanates, whether that corresponds to an actual personality or psychological configuration or not.

Of course, most men do reject the value of maternal safety and protection in favour of those inherent to the cultural representation of virility, namely freedom, independence, self-reliance, enterprise, ambition, competition etc., the reason for this having been repeatedly explained by cultural studies and directly showing up in this comment section too. So they tend to prefer short women in relation to the way in which the formal attributes conveyed by the idea of shortness most suitably conform to the modes of cultural representation of the idea of masculinity in our society.

Depends on the guy. My fiancé is tall at 6'3, and I was the first "short" girl he ever dated (I'm 5'6). I asked him why he sought out taller girls and he said that they showed him more attention since he was taller than them. Not all guys want a girl that is as or taller than them in real life it seems.

My hypothesis is that it is a culture thing — our culture sees men as needing to be taller than their female partners. I blame Hollywood. Even Tom Cruise movies try to make him seem taller than his leading ladies.

I think there are lots of men out there that like tall women, but I've found most men aren't too picky on height. Just my two cents but I am a short gal, my sister is tall and she never had an issue dating

supermodels are not that way because men like them. they are that way because the resemble the kind of fashions sketching, that became popular 50 years ago

" well of course they are tall and slim with no curves and tight asses ! dummy! All the designers are queer and want to look as TALL slim young guys,"

I don't think of any other reason for not liking tall girl as life partner other than the personal ego or social acceptance.

5'7" for women doesn't really seem exceptional for height. nor 5'11" for men.

Super models are human displays for designers and like manikins they think they look better if they are waif like and taller women and men are often used for ascetics. Idk just my take.

Keep in mind beauty peagents and the like have standards based upon the bias of people who sponsor them and such. They don't really represent most peoples preferences. The same applies for bodybuilding competitions, I doubt most women would want for all men to look like Ronnie Coleman, with all due respect to them.

Just a wild guess... but... maybe that's an ideal they don't think they can have... but appreciate it.

On the other hand, I think marketing is a bit controlled by what elites want... and not very open to actual market preferences in certain things.

Catwalk models are usually between 5'8 and 5'11.Some are taller or shorter.It's just a personal preference whether men like tall or short women.

I love tall women… but from a practical point of view I’ve found for me that women of 5’4” have perfect length legs for standing sex anywhere in many positions and places… so I’ve dated several women that height now!

Tall, medium height, or short…was never a major criteria that I used in picking a 👩. Looks, personality and compatibility were more important factors than height for me.

The media, and other women like supermodels. Men, at least any of the ones i know, wouldn't go near them with a barge pole! (If you're American: that's a big long stick to tow a boat on a canal)

No idea. But I think most men like looking at tall women but are so fragile that they need to be at least slightly taller than the woman in their life.

Tall girls rock! I’ve loved them, one was even 6’4” & she was a babe. 5’11” is a great height. Long legs are killer! Short girls are cool too! But tall girls are it!

Oh supermodels def aren't what normal guys go for. Guys feel more confident around women not as tall as them. I think women too like dating taller men.

The model’s primary purpose is to be a beautiful clothes hanger. That men find them attractive too is incidental. And btw, men like all kinds of women. My 6’0" sister (coincidentally a former model) is happily married.
