A term used to describe nude models that had to remain still. The Windmill was a musical and comedy revue featuring scantily clad dancers. The laws relating to such entertainment were stricter than those in Paris were the theatre took its influences.

So long as they remained still, all was considered to be artistic and wholesome. But as soon as one of the models moved the the thin veneer of respectability peeled away and moral chaos ensued 😅

Were the actually allowed to appear nude, without pasties? I am told that, in the US theater, at least half of male performers are gay.
