It's liberalism weaponizing gender roles.
revenant · F
@BizSuitStacy to me it is one of liberalism's tactics
BizSuitStacy · M
@revenant 100%. One of the key objectives of communism is breaking down cultural standards. This is just one of many tactics.

women who use privilege to abuse others.

That's when the mean girls in high school grow up and begin one-upping every other female within their radar.
Amid their humble brags, you'll discover they lost more weight than you did, they wear a size zero, all their designer clothes are from THIS year, their feet NEVER hurt when they wear stiletto heels, they can't understand how anyone could ever eat at your favorite restaurant, and they tell you they would never EVER eat a piece of pie...or a cookie. Not ever. (When you offer them one at a party), because they don't want to look like a COW...(while looking at you in a meaningful way). 🤣🤣🤣

buzzword,which like most buzzwords i say...stick it in your ear😦 to wit
Toxic femininity posits that women are without agency and exist to be defined and judged of their value by a male in their life such as a father or a husband.
i have never met a woman with these characteristics hope never to do so

Though the widespread understanding is the gender divide and depicting females their behaviour conduct etc. ,. Toxic femininity in my view are those females who behave as depicted in scriptures and treat Males as outcast or untouchables and be judgemental on females who mix freely with guys ..
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Pressure to shave legs, wear pretty dresses and makeup to appear feminine and stuff like that? 🤷♀️ I have no idea.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@revenant But what are feminine wiles. I found:
Is that it?
[ways of persuading someone that trick them into doing something: She'll have to use all her feminine wiles to get him to agree.]
Is that it?
revenant · F
@CrazyMusicLover yep

I think some term that too broadly, the only time I fear that is when women learn to hate men and then treat all men the same.

@revenant Possible, having just looked him up. I see nothing remarkable in opinion, so?
revenant · F
@SW-User Cathy Newman liked him too

@revenant That only helps so much. :) Beyond respect in how sexes treat each other I see this as an economic problem in so many ways. And I'd suggest John Rualston Sauls, no one will ever listen to, will put to an end of toxic feminism/ and those machismo.
Magnolia21 · 22-25, F
"I'm better than you, but also a victim! I'm stronger than you, but also weak! I'm allowed to express myself, you have to fall into what I believe!" And things of that nature. Sure, glad I'm a woman, but those hardcore feminists are crazy.
revenant · F
@Magnolia21 ahhh you are correct there. It is all about power plays but pretending to be a victim !
Whodunnit · M
From what I can tell it's just another trendy bullshit phrase like toxic masculinity which doesn't really mean much of anything at all.
Whodunnit · M
@revenant Though part of it I think it's a bit more insidious than just that.
In my opinion it's the targeting of traits that are largely gender specific is an effort to enforce the ideology that men and women are identical in ALL aspects and that gender is nothing more than a social construct.
So displaying those traits has been branded as being toxic.
For many years now this has been something almost exclusively targeted towards men, but now it appears femininity has also been dragged into the 'debate', though I am not sure if this is because of concerted efforts to devalue the traditional roles of women, or if it's a reactionary stance where it's thought if men can be toxic then surely woman can be too.

It's women shooting down/back stabbing other women for some type of personal/social/professional gain and has been around since day one. It's nothing new and men do it too.
SomeMichGuy · M
@revenant Yes...women can be particularly horrible to each other.

Maybe women who hate or are competitive with other women?
revenant · F
@JimboSaturn could be both
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@revenant yes and/or

The constant hatred, blame pointing, and discrimination towards men
revenant · F
@SW-User plenty of that alright
SomeMichGuy · M
No idea.
Wait...hang on.
I read this
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/sex-sexuality-and-romance/201908/toxic-femininity
which explains it as a woman choosing to try to live up to being "feminine" even when it hurts them/is not what's best for them/etc.
I'm not going to delve more deeply into it, but it seems just like a special phrase for a well-known general phenomenon: attempting to live up to ideal or other external standards to one's own detriment.
