Intensity or Endurance?

Doing it at least once a week...

It's either the focus is on building up the intensity for a strong finish...

Or keep pushing for as long as the body can bear all that pounding.

I want to feel like a winner whenever I get off...

..the treadmill.

I'm a runner. I focus mostly on building endurance, although I do make an effort to include one or more hills in each run, which I suppose is a form of intensity training. If I'm getting ready for a race, then I add quarter-mile speed intervals to my runs. Say, jog 3/4 mile and then sprint the last 1/4 mile. I'll do that over the course of a 3-4 mile run.

@Harmonium1923 I would imagine your energy level won't be the same during the last quarter mile.

@IamCuriousBabe No, but those training runs get you used to running faster when fatigued. It helps keep the pace up during a race.

@Harmonium1923 I get it.

Do you have a professional trainer?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@IamCuriousBabe I have never used one, but they are very popular, and many people swear they have helped them. Your body already looks great!

@samueltyler2 Thank you. I am thinking of doing cross-fit training next year, and maybe join a Spartan run. It's become a fad among fitness enthusiasts.
