I thought calling native Americans Indians was offensive?

@HijabaDabbaDoo Not really, it's just politically incorrect. Some don't mind it at all and even refer to themselves as Indian. But it's an improper term.

@HijabaDabbaDoo it was still incredibly common up into the 90s. And then even then kids watching older cartoons and movies would see them get called Indians in movies and media. In some places they actually teach the darker sides of American history such as the trail of tears and kids learn more proper terms. Other places they sort of sweep it away and people don't learn.
I will defer to native americans as to whether it's continued use is offensive, simply insensitive or ignorant, or not a problem at all. This is just the history of usage I know as a white person.
