How and why a human become an atheist

I am certain God exists, but I need to know how and why atheists become atheistic.

So, paging any atheist, please explain how and why you become an atheist, that will motivate me to know God better.

@yrger I do not have my own concept of god. Others have suggested their concepts and I have found them all to be unconvincing or inconsequential.
