How and why a human become an atheist

I am certain God exists, but I need to know how and why atheists become atheistic.

So, paging any atheist, please explain how and why you become an atheist, that will motivate me to know God better.

Kinda like believing in santa claus I guess. I grew up. Also just based on observation of many who claim to believe but often act out in ways which do not support the narrative.
