Yikes, It’s Getting Dark…Eclipse Reaches It’s Peak here in 9 Minutes at 94.3% darkness….

I saw it. It was awesome! There was a bright corona around the moon with spikes of sunlight shooting out from around it randomly. I was really surprised and impressed by it.
@TexChik That sounds right on the money. They said temps dropped about 15 degrees for the one in 2017.

@BizSuitStacy for a few seconds there was no sun . I have never been in the path before!
@TexChik I'm glad you got to see it. And thank you for posting your pics!

I turned off the lights and opened all the blinds. Boo-Boo chirped “REALLY?” Even he knows this is not a normal darkness like with a storm etc.

@cherokeepatti How are the birds handling this???
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Musicman Boo-Boo is chattering up a storm, the TV is on is probably why. I went out to the sun room and heard some wild birds chirping around. They didn’t seem too flustered by it.

@cherokeepatti That's good news. 🙂

That was great! I’ll be an old man at the next solar eclipse, if I make it that long. But today’s view was spectacular!
We had 90% here, and all I can describe is the lighting is strange. Shadows and sun reflecting off things, but overall lighting is dim. We spent some time outside with our glasses and it was cool, also showed my daughter the pinhole trick I used way way back during a partial here before one could buy glasses from Amazon. I'm glad I took the kids on a trip to observe the last total in 2017, which was a lot more dramatic.

Looking forward to when the total comes across here in 2099 (lol). Okay, maybe I'll still be kicking in 2044/45 and they can wheel me out of the old folks home to see it. The last time it came over my city was back in the 1300's. I was too young then to remember. 🤔😀

@BrewCityBarfly When I was young I got overheated cooking dinner, didn’t have A/C in the house then and there was no breeze to pull a draft through the kitchen even with all the windows open. I was frying summer squash over a propane gas cookstove…Everything started to gradually get darker. I turned off the fire and pulled the pan away from the burner and sat down and cried when I went completely blind. I thought it was going to be permanent but my now ex-husband brought a washcloth with cold water and I got cooled off and could see again. We had an eclipse a few years later and it creeped me out so bad because it was like when I got overheated and was going blind. So I really don’t care for eclipses because of that.

We didn't get the full eclipse in Jersey, but it was pretty exciting. Everyone went out to look and take pictures. It looked like a smile in the sky. ☺️

I'm watching it on TV in UK. Some Americans are wearing protective glasses, and some have nothing.
Very cool 😎

We are only supposed to hit 53%
Really? You must be a little east of me. I'm at 75.9°W

Edit: Oops: I guess I should have said "west". It peaked here (totality the better part of 100km south of here) exactly 50 minutes after you posted this.
