I wondered if anyone is into astronomy?

I am a complete amateur an am wondering how one goes about starting out?
I don't have my own telescope and it is all rather daunting re what to but, how to learn how to use the equipment,
There is an Amateur Astronomy Club in Perth with joining fees ranging from $11 - $60 a month.
