@ArcticDave Reason being ruled by and looted by Britishers
ArcticDave · M
@SW-User No. the Brits left a century ago.

Since then the poverty, overcrowding, the gang raping and murder of women, the spending money in space programs instead of dealing with domestic poverty - that’s Indians being shit to India.

I believe it. I think a lot of Indian culture is beautiful and fascinating. And I love the food. 😁

One of the reasons most ancient societies co-existed, religiously, is that they are lived, mostly isolated in their segregated communities/cities. In those days, people were born, lived and and then died, no more than a a day's walk from their place of birth.

The test of co-existence should be applied post WWI. Most of the world fails miserably. India included.

@Northwest I don't know about other civilizations but I know about Indus valley civilization that had links reaching as far as sumer, Greek etc

@SW-User Not. my point. Yes, traders, and armies, crossed borders, but the general population did not travel much.

No. You got first first half correct and later half incorrect. Christianity come to India before india but it was already existing in Europe. Christianity came to India in around 10th century AD

Yes! I think here in the West we should learn more about the East. Far too many of us are ignorant about eastern history.
@JimboSaturn good that you still want to learn. Travelling helps 🤓

I think you need to read better history books.

I attended a really good lecture by William Dalrymple and the classicist Tom Holland about the time of India before colonisation and how India was a fantastical country full of wealth and wonder. There are rumours that even Dionysius traveled to india.

This view held by the western world following colonisation that india is a country that is poor and uneducated is how the west want people to view the country. However we can see this trend moving away. It is begining to flourish again, the economy is rising at a time when others are in decline. Some people are jealous of this but i think this post colonial view of india will just be a blip on it's timescale.
