One of the reasons most ancient societies co-existed, religiously, is that they are lived, mostly isolated in their segregated communities/cities. In those days, people were born, lived and and then died, no more than a a day's walk from their place of birth.
The test of co-existence should be applied post WWI. Most of the world fails miserably. India included.
