Ok so news reports sayguided-missile cruisers USS Antietam and USS Chancellorsville transited through a corridor in the strait beyond the territorial sea of any coastal state where freedom of navigation and overflight apply in accordance with international law according to the US 7th Fleet in Japan.
There's been no interference from foreign military forces so far. The ships' transit through the Taiwan Strait demonstrates the United States' commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific. The United States military flies, sails, and operates anywhere international law allows.
Do you think there'll be escalation? And if so, what will happen?

@PatKirby I don't know if this will cause things to escalate. I know the Chinese were furious with Pelosi's visit.

My forecast is the CCP will send another group to 'follow' the US warships as they regularly do in order to save face. Saving face is everything in China. Remember, the first duty of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) is to protect the party - not the people. The PLA was created to protect them.
