New Sighting of the Loch Ness Monster

The Loch Ness Monster, or Nessie to her friends, has been around for at least 1500 years, and now she has popped up again - with a pal. A nessie hunter has film footage of two beasties in the loch at the same time.
Doubters and sceptics beware - Nessie is back! And this time with a friend.
Just when you thought it was safe to go into the water! (I wouldn't advise it - it's freezing at this time of year!)

you really have to love those images. But, there are an awful lot of professionals who might argue against the interpretation of the images. Until more data is found to indicate the existence, the nul hypothesis is still, Nessie doesn't exist.

This one looks real, but, look at the TV station involved, Fox, which now admits to lying to viewers in the US:

interesting video about strange videos which may be either creatures or unidentified, but most of which are debunked:

I can't find the one you suggested I watch, i guess it must have been in response to a post. I will maintain an open mind, but questioning the videos' authenticity and reliability.

You do know of the famous hoax, the Piltown Man? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piltdown_Man

@samueltyler2 I think they can also be taken with a sense of humour. Fantasies are often fun; as Debussy recognised when he wrote The Submerged Cathedral - rising to the surface every hundred years with bells tolling and organ playing.

@samueltyler2 If photographic evidence and the testimony of hundreds of observers are not enough, I will leave you to dwell in your cynicism.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@helensusanswift as I have said, scientific doubt is hardly "cynicism."

definition
Cynicism: A Philosophy of Skepticism
Cynicism is a philosophy that challenges conventional norms and values, and distrusts human motives and institutions.

Scientific curiosity:Curiosity and curiosity-driven questioning are important for developing scientific thinking and more general interest and motivation to pursue scientific questions.

Scientific questioning:
Scientific questions can be divided into types based on their characteristics. There are three main types of scientific questions:

Verification questions
Theory questions
Experimental questions
The first main type of scientific question is a verification question. Verification questions can be answered by collecting data through measurement or observation. A verification question might ask about the characteristics or properties of an organism or phenomenon.
helensusanswift · 26-30, F
@samueltyler2 Yet you display both: an immediate distrust of human motives - note your response to the photographs.
I tend to distrust people who think they know more than local people, and challenge the beliefs and observations of those on the spot.
Utterly cynical.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@helensusanswift so be it, it isn't worth arguing more with you. the point remains, there is simply no credible evidence of the existence of these creatures! we stopped believing the earth was flat, we now believe in the germ theory and not that there was a mysterious plasma that caused disease. I guess all of the scientists, many Nobel Laureates, are what you would call cynics because they dared doubt local folk lore. If so, than I am happy to be in their league.
helensusanswift · 26-30, F
@samueltyler2 Absolutely; you've made up your mind that everybody who has seen, catalogued and photographed the phenomenon is a liar or an idiot, while you, from thousands of miles away, know better than any of them.
That's not science: that's arrogance.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@helensusanswift enough, you are another anti-science, person. I have looked ord at every video you sent alleging proof. They have all been debunked. I never called anyone a liar, or fake. Have you looked at the one videos i sent that had professionals in the field exposed n the videos, why they debunked them? It isn't that anyone has made up their mind, it doesn't stay safe credible evidences, befriend sts in the field revert to saying it isn't likely that a prehistoric creature exists Alive in the loch, or elsewhere.
helensusanswift · 26-30, F
@samueltyler2 Now you are making assumptions about me and my beliefs in that somewhat garbled attack.
If you disbelieve witnesses accounts and photographs you are calling them liars- you THINK you know better because you are an expert is some branch of science.
Sitting sceptically in another country thousands of miles away and debunking what people have seen - because you don't want to believe in it isn't science. It's arrogance.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@helensusanswift i was not attacking you! good bye, have a good life
helensusanswift · 26-30, F
@samueltyler2 All your statements were an attack.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@helensusanswift sorry you believe that. Be well, enjoy your fantasy.
helensusanswift · 26-30, F
@samueltyler2 Thank you. I'll continue to search for the reality behind the limitations of science.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@helensusanswift if you find anything worth reading/viewing please let me know. I DO keep an open mind, as we say in the US, though, show me.
helensusanswift · 26-30, F
@samueltyler2 The history of the loch is fascinating in the multi-faceted examples of evidence it releases.
SW-User
@samueltyler2 I can't believe in the 21st century any of this cryptid nonsense still gets any traction, never mind funding by gullible marks

I guess this is the kind of environment that still enables crap like QAnon and stolen election conspiracy theories to flourish, sadly ... is it a problem our educational systems?
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@SW-User don't blame me. helensusanswift seems to believe it.
helensusanswift · 26-30, F
@samueltyler2 Helen surely believes that something strange is in the loch. How much time have you spent on or at the loch, Samuel? Or Bread?
SW-User
@samueltyler2 oh believe me I don't blame you at all :)

@helensusanswift "I don't want to brag, but I happen to live next to the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, which probably makes me a bit of an expert on all things nucular ..."
helensusanswift · 26-30, F
@SW-User Excellent: I live near to Lossiemouth RAF base, so I must be a fantastic pilot. How long did you spend studying on site at Loch Ness to make you an expert on the strange happenings over the last thousand years or so?
