I Love Exploring Museums

What is there about a museum that captivates the mind? Is it the history? Or is it the distinct dark, musky smell? The past holds much for one to learn from. It can be troubling or majestic...either way I lose my thoughts in the halls and exhibits often wondering what these things have seen through the years and what secrets do they hold?

For me it’s learning about the past cause if we don’t know where we as a society has been we will never know where we are going!
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
@KimBras I couldn't agree with you more.
I think it is the articles inside, you see a painting, a weapon, a tool and you imagine the things that they objects were witness to long ago, they speak to you in a silent way.

@Subsumedpat But it would be wonderous if they could spin their tales for us? That would be exciting.
@MaladyRed Yes it would, I read that some of the so called torture implements of the mid evil times were never used but were only invented for museums way back in the day. That sort of thing would not be the case today because we have so much information at out fingertips but back then who would know.

I love imagining the many things the paintings and other artifacts have witnessed. I think one of my favorite, outside of the USA, was the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. Beautiful and extremely rich stuff.
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
@Fungirlmmm You can almost hear the history contained inside the items. Oh, if only they could spin their tales for us. I wonder what they would say?

I think it is the knowledge that such history is stored there. The idea that centuries of experience are hanging on those walls or shelves. It makes one remember that we are all adding our stories to the wall as it were. The smell of the paper that we associate with solemn, ancient and important is part of it. But most of all it is the reverence we feel in a place that we realize has importance.
Sorrowfulgaze · 46-50, M
@MaladyRed So glad you enjoyed and thank you for the kind words.
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
@Sorrowfulgaze The pleasure was mine. Very seldom do I come across someone with such a gift with words.
Sorrowfulgaze · 46-50, M
@MaladyRed I do my best to express the jumbled thoughts and images in my head. I am very pleased you can appreciate them. And look forward to hearing more of yours.
Yep, and used book stores, which in a sense hold the same kind of discoveries, just in different form.

Yes, and for me it is even more brilliant to find a novel that captures the same energy of that of a museum. I love novels that craft stories of either the past, based on extensive research and passion for the subject, or from the past, which capture a true representation of one person’s experience.
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
@AnnaKarenina I concur...I even like writing them myself. There is something intriguing about doing research.
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
@MaladyRed yes a lot of people find research a boring task but searching and finding can be like an aphrodisiac to those who truly perfect this craft.

I love museums and all they can teach us

The ancient mysteries of the world are hidden within the past. Those wishing to explore, they must do so seeking wisdom and truth. To know the many mysteries of the world is what every thinking mind craves and yearns for.

part of the paris catacombs have been converted into a museum of sorts, the bones and skulls have been arranged along the walls and look beautiful.
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
@xSharp I do see the beauty in this, but I'm hesitant to see them. You see, I'm what you call a "sensitive". I can sense the dead around me and I can at times talk to them. With that many souls there, I wouldn't want to be overcome with those emotions.
xSharp · 31-35, M
@MaladyRed yes i also everything.. else..

it kind of runs in the family
walabby · 61-69, M
The Louvre in Paris is one of the best in the world!
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
@walabby I would love to see it someday.
walabby · 61-69, M
@MaladyRed It is definitely worth the effort, although I would wait until this Yellow Jacket hysteria is done... :/
MaladyRed · 56-60, F
@walabby That's very true.
i often take far longer, that those who come with.
