I’d like to go to an art museum but I need to learn how to interpret it so I can enjoy it.

I know it has to be deeper than just what’s at face value, but what means what?

So snails are a sign of death? If I hadn’t known that, I would have looked at the picture and went “why is there a random snail here? This is so out of theme, I don’t get it” and walked off.
Some museums have audio tours which could help you with that.

In place of a regular in-person tour guide, an audio tour consists of pre-recorded information that is loaded onto a device and given out for people to listen to individually.

Someone at the museum can help you but yeah it's something you either enjoy or you don't. I went to Art Basel in Miami and I wasn't moved 😆 but I like artists and met a lot of interesting people.

Don;t worry about what it means, just go and find things you enjoy. What they mean TO YOU is what's important, not what some "expert" tells you art us supposed to mean.
