What books, or parts of books, have brought you to tears?

For me, it would be Ch.19, the pivotal chapter, in Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.

I think it was because I empathized with Pip's mixed feelings about leaving home after years of suffering abuse from his sister. He felt exactly as I felt when I left home at the age of 18 after years of abuse from the Wicked Witch of West Hollywood (AKA my mother).

A Boy Named It….it was about a boy who suffered horrendous abuse at the hands of his mother while his father and siblings stood idly by and let it happen. The book is featured in social work classes now.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy.

About a man trying to look after his young son after the world has ended. Everything is slowly and inevitably dying, but he has to keep this one tiny boy alive.

@Thevy29 poor Dobby… he just wanted approval and love
I wish i could read...but i get bored... How do you read without getting bored.

@TimingQuasars find a book you enjoy… use your imagination while reading the words… it’s better than a movie sometimes because you follow descriptions from the author but obviously each person could “see” it differently
So many, where the red fern grows, rascal, even people's posts occasionally water my eye for a moment.
