What books, or parts of books, have brought you to tears?

For me, it would be Ch.19, the pivotal chapter, in Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.

I think it was because I empathized with Pip's mixed feelings about leaving home after years of suffering abuse from his sister. He felt exactly as I felt when I left home at the age of 18 after years of abuse from the Wicked Witch of West Hollywood (AKA my mother).

A Boy Named It….it was about a boy who suffered horrendous abuse at the hands of his mother while his father and siblings stood idly by and let it happen. The book is featured in social work classes now.

@WaryWitchWandering It’s heartbreaking but he healed enough to be able to write a book about it.
