I wanted to go buy a clothes dryer last week

(you know, finally a lil' luxury thing🤗)

OHMYFUCKINGAWD !

Do you know how many types of bloody dryers there are !?

I spent a whole week going down dryer rabbit holes.
- Vented vs heat pump, vs condenser.
- Self cleaning vs not.
- What size....what brand ....
- what maintinence each one needed.
WTAF !😵‍💫

How can we turn such a simple concept such as drying clothes into a bloody University thesis?

I had one criteria - quiet.
- after day two i realized i had about three priority criterias, 23 options, but no solid statistics or definable characteristics in which to eliminate particular models.

🤬
- ALL THIS INTERNET - but so little solid info.....fuck me sideways ! 🙄

No one should have to go to this much research to buy a fucking clothes dryer😡

Result - i have about 20 tabs open but i finallygot one.
It was waaaay too expensive🫤

But .....thats why we work right? - to have nice things🤗

So im off to christen my dryers virginity.
- Instead of trapsing down the back garden, pegging out my laundry, stepping on at least one friggen sharp, broken clothes peg and then hoping no one steals my knickers, or my towels blow away in the manic gusty spring weather.

Imma gonna sit,
- have another coffee,
- bask in the bliss of modern 21st century technology...
- and do sweet FA😌😊😌

I have no idea about clothes dryer. I've only seen one at my aunt's place. 😆 But I bet it must be convenient during a cold humid winter.
@CrazyMusicLover oh its absolutely a novelty right now !

Like last night - i was in anticipation of coming home and doing my laundry......just because i could !

Theres no waiting till the weekend to do it. Which now translates to me having more free time on the weekend.... which means i could actually attempt having a potential social life....😂

We're also looking for a new washing machine and dryer. A month ago we started inquiring at JBHiFi and gosh there are machines that you could control through your phone!! I don't know if I'm the last to know, but is that how lazy people are now?? Anyway I don't know yet what we're buying. Most probably not Samsung or Beko because we've had bad experiences with them regarding performance and warranty.

Check out Speed Queen brand. Ive heard from several appliance technicians they are the best.
@GnomeyGee i did consider them.
But couldn't find a local technician here in Tassie. (Flipping ass end of the world😅)

I did read they are fucking reliable work horses.
- They are also big🫤
Im kinda limited for space🤷‍♀

If i had my way, id have both a speedqueen washer and dryer - they have such a great reputation👍

@OogieBoogie I have no idea where Tassie is 😅 yeah those are definitely things to consider. I know when my washer and dryer go out im definitely going with speed queen!
@GnomeyGee oh....the world knows Tassie as Tasmania - often forgotten state of Australia.
I have a samsung that puts a notificstion on my tv and has alexa tell me that it's finished its task. Like I can't hear the long song it plays at the end of its cycle. I love the dryer but the washing maching is garbage.

I have an air dryer....
Wind power and no clothes pegs on the lawn.
@KiwiBird 👍
if i put my clothes on the line today -theyd end up in the next suburb.

We got wheelie bins taking off on their own

@OogieBoogie Showers here...clothes on respite leave. Cogitating.
Free enterprise has led to too many choices.

There is something wonderful about English as spoken in Australia. I mean, this is a post about buying a clothes dryer, Oogie, and it contains all of the following terms:

Pegging
Virginity
Knickers
Fucking

And the F-word in its various forms, is used as a verb, noun, and adjective. I salute you.
@Harmonium1923 HAHAHA, ahh, absolute best reply!🤣

I love your analysis of the verbiage.
I never really thought about it.

I do love words. Expressive words.

And youre right ... English allows one to have so much fun with it. To irreverently bend its meaning to fit a whole assortment of requirements.

Thank you so much for your logophilistic appreciation 🤗

@OogieBoogie I figured you’d either get a kick out of my reply or block me immediately. 😎

I find that for anything I have to buy no matter how big or small.
@sylvsn59 its getting crazy.

Even something as simple as shampoo: there's like 300 to choose from !
