Because they've recently come out of hibernation? Pretty regular and reasonable conversation a few times a year here. "Hey the bear is on ____ street, watch your kids and dogs"

@chasingThursday yep. Seen them in the back yard, the skating rink , the playground, walking through town, running out of my driveway as I pulled in late at night, crossing the highway. A momma had 3 cubs with her in town a few years ago. Now if I go more than a few years ago I've seen a bunch more
