If you are ever attacked by a lion, here's what to do..

.. Simply get hold of his tootsie and press between his pads to surrender him to helpless kitty mode.

Cats all seem to have much of the same way of being to me from the tiniest Tiggy to the biggest Tiger. We visited Whipsnade zoo a few years ago and half the lions in their enclosure were lying on their backs with their legs in the air, half asleep.

Of course what is a playful swat from Tiggy is not quite the same when it comes from something weighing two or three hundred kilos.

@ninalanyon Reminds me of Elsa the lioness from Born Free. Lovely film if you have never seen it, shows how she was brought up from a cub and incredibly friendly, but she was also put back into the wild and she had her own cubs.

@Jemimapuddleduck Saw it many years ago. I don't think I could watch it now in the knowledge that the habitat and the animals in it are so threatened. Even in sparsely populated Norway most people are quite intolerant of wild animals.

@ninalanyon That's an odd thing, isn't it, to be intolerant of wild creatures. But then if they come into towns or near homes looking for food I can understand it. I know bears do this and can be quite threatening. Although I 'd love to watch them through the window!

@Jemimapuddleduck There are only approximately sixty wolves in Norway yet the government authority responsible for wildlife grants licenses for hunting them
Startskudd for uansvarlig ulvejakt

1.12.2023 09:22:17 CET | Naturvernforbundet

Start of irresponsible wolf hunting

12/1/2023 09:22:17 CET | The Norwegian Nature Conservancy

The hunt for wolves outside the wolf zone starts today, 1 December, and with that the shooting of the Norwegian wolf population continues. The Nature Conservancy is very skeptical that irresponsibly high quotas have been set this year, which in practice means the shooting of all wolves outside the wolf zone and heavy interventions in the population within the zone.
In the spring of 2023, there were 63-66 living wolves in Norway, a decrease of 31 percent from 2022. In the winter hunt, as many as 49 wolves can be shot.
