Do you have any proven ways to keep spiders out of your home? [I Hate Spiders]

I have a terrible phobia of them and freak out when they invade my home

As mentioned peppermint. Also they don't like citrus. Soak citrus peels in vinegar. Leave for two weeks or so then strain. As an added bonus, ants don't like vinegar.

@Raine I do it in a mason jar, use a plastic lid as the vinegar can be caustic.
