Police issue 'strangest appeal ever' after crocodile dumped in Derbyshire canal

It was reported to the Canal and River Trust after being seen some time between Wednesday and Thursday, but when they arrived, it was nowhere to be seen.
Officers have now launched an appeal as they look to trace the crocodile, with a spokesperson saying: "We know this is probably the strangest appeal ever to grace our Facebook page, however, we are appealing for your help in relation to a suspected crocodile that was reported dumped in South Derbyshire.

"Yes, you read that correctly… a crocodile!"

"The crocodile was allegedly sighted between bridge 22 and 22a on the Trent and Mersey Canal, nearby to Mercia Marina, Willington sometime over the last 24-48 hours.

We had the same ‘ sighting’ in the River Avon in Bristol a few years ago. Eventually it was decided it was mistaken identity.

If there's a Croc it won't survive our Winter there's a lot to be said for living in a Tepid Climate.

Man, if that's the strangest appeal then I can't help but think how abnormally tame it is over there.
