Born boy/male or girl/female and that doesn't change. So misgendering is a misnomer.

It's not a lie in so far as some people born one sex genuinely feel they are emotionally of the other.
Physically of course they can't change. They were born either male or female (apart from the very rare, and non-productive, hermaphrodites), and any subsequent surgery is outwardly cosmetic but internally, neuters them.
The difficulty is of hormones and emotions.
