My Backyard Babies

so every morning and every evening this little guy sits on the ledge outside of my kitchen window waiting for me to feed him and he knows then when I see him, I always bring nuts outside so here’s a picture of him waiting for me to see him, and then he and his friend eating their nuts on my deck

I also have a bunch of bunnies that live in the back corner and I have possums that live under my deck
Excuse the mess. I haven’t been out there since October

After my divorce, I rented a friend’s basement and I had a little patio that fronted on her wild and beautiful backyard.

There were telephone lines and tall linden trees and a lipstick vine made access through a crack in the block wall and decorated my place inside with gorgeous red flowers.

Best of all, there were squirrels. They were fascinating. I named one of them Luigi and he was a daredevil.

Once I saw Luigi take a fairly dramatic fall. There was silence for a bit and then a squirrel I thought might be his mother came racing to his side. She nudged him, then nudged him harder and when he began moving normally she tore into him like an angry wolverine and he got motivated. She chased him up the tree, across the telephone lines, chattering at him about scaring her half to death.

@Mamapolo2016 that’s so cute!
We have one who has built her nest in our shed. She terrorizes the hound and I swear I’ve heard her laugh at him.
@Pinkstarburst I suspect that we would find squirrels swearing and taunting a lot if we could interpret there chattering.😆
That’s so adorable.

Lol he's a little chunk
He's a little butterball, you keep him well fed.🤗 It's cool when the local critters learn to trust you.
