Gators are a common part of life around where I live, thankfully I’ve never been chased by one! 😆

@smileylovesgaming There have been in this past decade. I worked with someone who lived on a ranch and would take care of the animals etc in exchange for rent. He came to work one day and showed us a photo on his camera of an alligator that had been getting in the chicken coupe and eating them. It was a bit less than 3 feet long. They called the police and they said they could kill it, no laws against it here. So they did. They called the news stations and they weren’t interested in reporting it. Last week there was a news story about zoologists saying they are seeing native populations of alligators that are breeding here now. I live in central Oklahoma so they have migrated up this way. Wouldn’t surprise me if one day swimmers, fishermen or campers encounter them out at Lake Thunderbird. That man I worked with lived not far from that lake.

@cherokeepatti I all was thought Oklahoma was to cold for them

@smileylovesgaming Yeah that’s what I was thinking. But gators can survive by getting in the water and sticking their snouts up to breathe when there’s a hard freeze. It doesn’t kill them and when the ice thaws they get out.
