Risk it with the hippos? No thank you 😨😨😨😨😨

I just got 8 to sleep in our tent… we are on the banks of the Zambezi tonight. We were warned that hippos are likely to venture out of the water at night and we might hear them walking around outside the tents.

8 shrieked in excitement….
“Mummy! We can go out to see the stars AND the hippos tonight!”
😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳

No thanks!!!

I told her hippos are pretty dangerous but she said they will like us and we can pet them.

“I’ll wake up at midnight and go say hello”, she said.

How much do we want to bet that I’ll wake up to my brave little girl trying to escape the tent tonight?!?! 😨😨😨😨😨😨

After your experience with her going to the beach on her own, you had best make sure she can't get out of the tent without making a LOT of noise, so you can stop her.

@4meAndyou I’m putting myself between her and the door, so she will have to climb over me to get out. But now that I’m worried about it I probably won’t sleep a whole lot 😳😳😳😳😳 I did consider putting her in my sleeping bag with me because there’s no way she’d get out of that without me knowing 🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐

Wow you are so lucky wish I was there . The hippos wont touch you unless they feel threatened . So enjoy just dont get to near or corner them , they will run before they will attack . I swam with hippos when I was younger at Wankie Game Reserve under the supervision of a game ranger . They were orphans raised by humans so were pretty tame we also tried hippos milk which was delicious . I had an amazing childhood and really miss home .

If she wakes up and we can hear them I will let her open the tent slightly and look at them, but I don’t want her being outside with them in such close proximity. She’s too unpredictable lol
