If it's morally acceptable to kill animals for the sensory pleasure of eating meat, is it also ok to kill them for other sensory pleasures?

i.e. some people might enjoy hearing their screams or listening to the sound of the blood spurting out of their slit throats

One's health does not depend on hearing the screams of animals, whereas meat is apart of what many consider to be a healthy diet.

I hope that artificial meat will replace meat taken from animals, as the farming industry is pretty cruel. Once artificial/lab grown meat becomes readily available and not expensive, then there's no excuse to eating natural meat.

@deadgerbil 'Many' are scientifically incorrect though. The vast, vast majority of people can be healthy on a vegan diet.

@BlueVeins it's not scientifically incorrect as the general dietary consensus calls for meat in one's diet.

and healthy proteins like nuts, beans, fish, and chicken should make it into the shopping cart every week

And in theory, sure, people can find a way to be healthy sans meat. In practice, it plays out differently as not everyone has the same opportunity to indulge in a carefully planned vegan diet, whereas meat gives you all of your amino acids readily, by example. And if people take the liberty to go vegan, the 2022 consensus still has meat on the menu.

@deadgerbil Beans and nuts are vegan, my dude. Your source does not support the argument you're making!

@BlueVeins I'll help you out a bit lol

fish, and chicken should make it into the shopping cart every week

That should settle it lol

You literally have to cherry pick a sentence to support your argument. Spare me any mental gymnastics that would have you somehow exclude chicken and fish from Harvard's general dietary recommendations.

My source calls for those two animals in one's diet.

@deadgerbil My dude, you're the one who picked that sentence. 👀 And you cropped it down to exclude the parts that it supports my argument after the fact. The article isn't saying that you literally need to eat all four of those things. It's saying that you need to eat healthy proteins, and that healthy proteins include those four foods. I feel like you would have no trouble reading this line of text correctly in any other context, and this clarity is underscored by the fact that another article from that very same source says that veganism can be healthy.

Factually false. I pasted the following quote originally:

and healthy proteins like nuts, beans, fish, and chicken should make it into the shopping cart every week

You decided to go crazy eyed and zero in on the "nuts and beans, my dude."

So, you can not say I cropped anything that supports your argument when I literally included beans and nuts. The very things to zeroed in on.

I then shortened the quote to help you out as you are struggling lol
---

My original comment said that many consider meat inclusion to be healthy.

And, what do you know, Harvard also says that
fish, and chicken should make it into the shopping cart every week

@deadgerbil a'ight I can tell you're not gonna admit that you're wrong no matter what I say at this point, so I'm just gonna move on.

@BlueVeins feel free to think you're taking some sort of moral high ground lol

You likened the consumption/pleasure derived of/from meat, which has a nutritional basis, to people getting pleasure from hearing animals scream, which has no value of providing sustenance. False equivalence much...

That right there shows you didn't create this post on good faith and it's lost on you lol

And the humourous thing is that you said many entities don't call for meat consumption, when this food 'pyramid', created by pooling together various research, calls for meat.
