Tired of it

You’ve come so far you’re 14 months sober. You’ve worked so hard.
I know all that I don’t need to be told that.
What I need is to be given a fucking break every once in a while.
What I need is to not have to completely abstain because I don’t care if I’m an alcoholic, I can learn to do better.
I’m tired of being told to completely abstain
You’re 25 years sober good for you. I’m sure you smoke weed or do other shit. I don’t

Make a rule. Example: One tiny shot glass *only* and used as a recovery ONLY on extreme (will lose my mind) cases.
When you spend some time without increasing quantity let's say like 1,2 or 3 monnths. Make it 2 shots max every few days and you can make it like idk twice a week. The problem is not tasting it. The problem is forgetting to stop. Perhaps you can make yourself a schedule and if you respect it, you won't get drunk and won't have to exaggerate. After about a year of this, try to move to max 1 glass only once a day. Or once every two days.
But you have to be strict. If you let yourself go completely, you will relapse. Hope you succeed in finding a solution.

@Busybee333 see that’s reasonable what’s not reasonable is what my recovery program tells me to do which is to stay the fuck away from it completely and that’s what I’m really tired of that’s what causes people to relapse is being told never again

@Morrowind I think they begin very strictly at first. When you pass the program, you will feel "the pull" less and will be able to regulate that other suggestion better. I think they are trying to help you by getting your body to unlearn drinking completely first. Maybe after that you will be able to drink a little occasionally, with reason. Maybe after some time you can implement tiny super small "tasting" moments but yeah never go too far. Often people drink from emotional pain. I think you should focus on emotional healing first. Feeling more balanced will help you hold on in this period. Why not go for long walks? It could distract you from thinking about drinking? Perhaps? ^^
