She is honest. That is good. You can drink non alcoholic drinks and pretend they are alcoholic! ;) There are also virgin versions of cocktails to "give you the feel" without the alcohol. The problem could be also discipline. It takes some discipline to reeally want something (only one more), but to tell yourself no, only ONE is my limit, no matter the level of despair that pushes me to want more of it. And then to refuse to take another glass no matter what. Like a serious rule/law for your health. She was judging your addiction and your discipline to provide an accurate answer. She was trying to help you. Because if she said yes.. let's be real, next time you feel blown away by a hardhsip, you will take only one glass and when you blink you would have had the whole bottle. Because it feels good so you don't feel that you are exaggerating until it is too late. Trust me, miserable and drunk is worse than miserable and sober enough to solve the thing that hits you or sober enough to realize that something else can be done to alleviate your situation instead of dunking your head in the whiskey (or another addiction). Pain will always be part of life. Challenges too. But also, if you look hard enough, there is also joy. There are also opportunities. There is also peace. If you can never feel grateful and never feel calm... I presume it became a habit to spiral negatvely about everything. Contentment and understanding can be cultivated. You can set your pieces right for a bright tomorrow. Even for a brighter today, one foot in front of the other. I am so happy that you stopped drinking! Stay strong, the strong pull will become weaker over time. I know because I had a different addiction to one sweet (non alcoholic) drink that was making me suffer in my body and my mind (family noticed) but I didn't realize because it "felt good" to my stressed sad mind to soothe myself with that comfort drink. Today, I have 0 desire for it. I can't even believe how much I used to like it. I tried it once aftee years and it tasted horrible this time LOL. I still eat and drink sweets but so much less than before! I do not feel the strong pull anymore. I no longer have those "missing tasting this" psychological mini crises xD I can regulate myself. I can now feel that a tiny amount is more than enough for a long time. And I feel so much better to feel that it can be under my nose but I have full control over my desire over it. I can eat it but If I choose to, I can skip it and it doesn't bring me any distress because I know that and my body feels that it doesn't really need it. I wish you to pass through that threshold where you no longer feel enslaved by your addiction. Hold strong. It will subside. Keep your mind and hands occupied with other things, train, get the emotions out differently. I believe you have the inner strength! You can do it :)
