Emotions come and go, Angela. Rational and Irrational.

Even a decade and a half later self-doubt can come.

I remember being something like 5 years in recovery, I had made an alcoholic drink for a friend (I was fine doing that) and, by accident and just general talking away, I found myself picking up HER drink and almost putting it to my lips!

Cue quivvering hands...crying....feeling scared. That was all with me for a few days until I got myself together.

I felt a fraud then. There's days when I feel one now. Part of the human experience. Those thoughts go.

You're doing great. One minute. One hour. One Day. Then the next.

It gets easier with each passing day, I had 22 years sober on January 1st this year and Thsts the only way to take it is one day at a time. I tried to quit about 30 years ago and went to rehab and meetings, but it didn’t work for me. Meetings just made me want to drink again so they route wasn’t for me. I just got up on New Year’s Day that great faithful day and said that I have had enough and never looked back. It was a resolution.it was a life choice. You have to want to do it for yourself. But anyway congratulations and I hope you keep it up. If you ever need to talk I’ll be here to help you through the rough spots.

"The only requirement for membership is the desire to stop drinking". I keep telling you you meet that.

As I said Monday, huge congrats, keep going.
I agree! Congratulations Angela!!! We are very proud of you. Remember one day at a time, step by step. Its a journey.
Congratulations on 3 months sober, and earning that new chip, one day at a time.
We're very proud!

Congratulations! Pretty soon, not drinking will just be the way it is for you and you will hardly ever think about it anymore.
You got this, you already did the hardest part. You can do anything.
