Trying to stay sober during holidays sucks.

Everybody openly drinks even knowing I struggle with it. Alcohol sitting everywhere. People mixing it. Talking to each other about it. Talking to me about it. From a post online it probably sounds intentional. It's not. Just normalized. This stuff is on TV and in public so people don't question it.

Before I made this post, someone turned to me and said, "This is good" before asking how I'm doing.

I just had non-alcoholic eggnog.

If you are with a lot of people during the holodays, there will always be drinking. That doesn't make it suck any less, but you get to practice saying no. In that kind of situation I always buy something for myself to drink and toast with people, like apple/pomegranate juice, or non-alcoholic beer. For New Year's Eve I buy children's champagne, and because it actually has a strong flavor (at least the kind I got here) and comes in a pretty glass bottle, it feels like I'm partaking in the celebrations.

@SinlessOnslaught I forgot to buy anything, but it was just me and Slavik who doesn't like to drink alcohol anyways. We puored some 3-day-old soda in champagne glasses to toast at midnight lol.
