90 years ago today

90 years ago today Dr Bob had returned from his trip to Atlantic City having previously spoken to Bill W he'd been on another spree throughout that trip. But the morning of 10th June 1935 Dr Bob took his last drink and endeavoured to stay sober using the ideas Bill W suggested.

Dr Bob never drank again and that date is taken as the founding of AA. Together they sought out other alcoholics in Akron and AA grew.

I like so many owe them so much.

And before this program was launched and offered hope to those who suffer with this, alcoholics like myself had very few options...usually nut wards, jails and mortuary slabs .

I'm forever grateful for the opportunities in my life today made possible by following this simple program for complicated people. 18 years sober-couldn't do it on my own !

Luckily for me I managed to get my drinking under control before I reached that stage but there's no doubt in my mind that AA has saved millions of lives around the world

@CuriousCouple25 From Dr Bob's Nightmare in the big book of Alcoholics Anonymous.
That was June 10, 1935, and that was my last drink. As I write nearly four years have passed.
As written by Bob himself in 1939.

Whatever, if that date is misremembered - doesn't matter. 10th June is always remembered as both Dr Bob's sobriety date and the start of AA.
