How does one get into alcohol detox treatment?

Was trying to get a young woman some help this morning but when we got to the ER they said that the hospital doesnt do detox and gave her some phone numbers. We tried them but nothing opens until tomorrow (monday). Guess she'll have to sit home and shake until then.

Should you need to...they may not offer specific detox, but they will admit her for alcohol overdose and withdrawal, They have to.

Alcohol withdrawal is the single most deadly form of withdrawal and can come with tremens, seizures, internal bleeding, liver and kidney failure, and death. They can't know how sick she is until they run tests.

If there's nowhere else, bring her in and demand she be seen. Call the hospital board or local news if you like. Until the very people in charge of healthcare start recognizing addiction and mental health, no one else will.

@Graylight she went into the emergency room last night. No beds avaikable but they did put her on an iv and gave her a pill for nausea. I picked her up at 4:30 AM and she's sleeping on the couch.

@Tastyfrzz They should do better by you. It's the home of Hazelden Betty Ford, for God's sake. In fact, give them a call, let them know your situation and they will help you find a suitable resource. They themselves require pretty good insurance, but they're also the best in the world. Tell them a student alumnus sent you.

Aww, thats weird theres no weekend hours for someone with that condition. Tell her stay hydrated at least..I hope tomorrow brings some help🐞
