Should I meet him in person?

So I started talking to an older man (not on this site, but a shotty chat room) and I gave him my email and he lives an hour from me and wants to meet in person next weekend. Here’s the thing, he can’t talk on the phone because of his wife (he said sometimes she uses his phone) and he says he doesn’t have any pics to share with me. Should I meet or no? I’m not sure it’s safe but there’s always been a reckless part of myself that doesn’t care about my own safety and that reckless part is a little loud right now.. but also I have to keep my safety in mind because I have people that depend on me. So I’m still decided but would love to hear opinions. And also I did tell him I wasn’t going to do anything the first time we met since we haven’t been talking for long and I really don’t know anything about him.
