What should you do if you and your best friend put up a barrier so you don’t break your friendship but your best friend keeps kidding about liking you

I have a really good friend, a former lover, who doesn't come out and SAY that he loves me, but he does treat me that way, as far as he is able...and he really isn't capable of loving another human being. He's pretty damaged.

I did put up a barrier between us, because he believes we are just friends, (he has said so in the past), and yet he wants benefits...so it is entirely up to me to stop his titty grabbing and so on. And I do. He is shut off. But I do still love him, as I have since we met.

I respect myself far too much to be JUST that to someone.

I'd rip the bandaid, really hard. Thus, having a serious talk about this and explain that I don't see them that way.

I'd ignore their advances..nothing is more important than friendship.

What does barrier mean? Like a boundary? That's a normal and healthy thing to do.
Maybe you should talk to them about this, ya know?

find a new best friend because yours isn't keeping up their end of the deal

Walk away and mean it. Your boundaries are for you to enforce.

If you are not interested in that way, you should make it clear and enforce it.
