Ever dislike/hate someone you know yet at the same time kind of feel sorry for them?

For me, this was the case with a boy I knew back in middle school, 8th grade, when I was 14.

He was one of the very, very few kids who was even more unpopular than me. And not even I wanted to be his friend, though he desperately wanted to be friends with me.

As to why all this was? He was annoying as hell. That was basically it overall. He had this extremely high pitched squeaky voice and he would screech a lot, hurting everyone's ears. He was also super desperate to fit in, literally jumping into the middle of random conversations strangers were having with each other, talking about stuff that had nothing to do with the topic.

Also... me and him had the same name, and he was quite annoying about this... he was thinking I was his "best friend" and "brother" even though I literally didn't know him at all, and we didn't vibe or have anything in common.

A lot of people were straight up cruel to him, and I in comparison tried to let him down more easy.

The plan more or less "backfired" though as he took a lighter rejection as an invitation to be friends, going "come on come on can we please be besties please please please!"

He also fished for compliments in every little thing he did. Like he would make a poorly drawn drawing and go around showing everyone "this is the best thing in the world isn't it look at it!"

He also got extremely angry whenever someone didn't agree with him on something.

In the end I was so relieved me and him didn't go to the same high school.

Looking back at it today, I wouldn't have acted any differently, but I do feel sorry for him (or at least that young version of him).

He overall just seemed like a kid who was desperate to make friends yet didn't know how. And I'm not one to diagnose others, but perhaps autistic? Not sure.

Back then I was happy for there to be at least 1 person more unpopular than me, but now I just feel bad. I hope his life has gotten better since then.

I do not. Not when I decide finally which category they belong in. Maybe during the decision-making process I can feel Duality towards someone a lot of times I often do but they either turn out to be a winner or just Another Bad Penny and when they are a bad penny I know they will never turn good again so there is no reason to concern myself at that point
Yep. Most of these I have blocked...

@rinkydinkydoink Ah yeah. Best thing you can do in these situations. Block. Ignore. Repeat.
