"Shop around," tour the facilities and ask questions.
First sent my son at 2 years old, he's 13 now, to a place that just didn't watch the kids play, but interacted with them in painting and other creative activities to help develop motor skills as well as have fun playing.

@calicuz Same, the daycare we used was so good that kids could go there instead of kindergarten. It was kind of like school actually. No babysitter would have been that attentive.

Hardest decision you’ll make as a parent. My son and I loved it when he was going to the Sports Centre daycare. He thrived there, unfortunately I had him in a dayhome before this place and he got abused. 😞😡

Depends on the daycare. The daycare we put our daughter in was absolutely excellent.

for me babysitter was cheaper

My wife is going to do night shift to have her mom watch her.
That's how much the cost of daycares and babysitters dont make sense.

I would say babysitter, daycares open you up to viruses that children can catch easily

Home care would be good if we find the right person. They both cost so much now a days.

@Musicman It was, it brought me a lifelong fascination with percussion. In fifth grade, at my first iowa school we were starting band and the teacher asked who wanted to snare, I raised my hand along with two other boys, he said he needed two, not three. So he set up a test to see who could beat along with Ravel's Bolero, and I was first up. It took me less than 30 seconds to catch it and play along, the other two were quite unsynchronized. HOWEVER, THEY got the gigs, why? because they took piano lessons and I didn't, a stupid rule iowa schools had at the time 🙄

@Musicman It was among the first incidents, at the age of ten, that made me start questioning the mentality of iowans, in Oregon the band teacher would have made me the only snare drummer.
After what happened in New York last year, I don't think most parents trust day cares anymore
