Kangaroo Tick

Do they carry diseases?
Gusman · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 Yes, they do. One disease being Q Fever.
Some people can be affected by sudden high fevers, chills, bad sweats, and severe headaches, muscle pain, joint pain, and extreme tiredness, dry cough, nausea, or weight loss.
Two-week course of anti-biotics sees the person back to full health.

@Gusman interesting i dont think of Q fever as vector borne but things maybe different in your area.

Good bad ?? Here in Canada some ticks are ok some carry lime disease.... Being a country boy I encounter both.. Best part of the day is when we come inside and have " tick check".. lol
Gusman · 61-69, M
@Windigo1 There is no Lyme disease in Australia.
The ticks can be problematic for vulnerable people. Ricketts being one illness that can be contracted.
I have had Kangaroo ticks on my body with no ill effects.
Windigo1 · 70-79, M
@Gusman I get ticks on me all the time as I spend most of my time in the bush ... country boy in Northern Ontario Canada
